WSwitch for Smart Switches App Reviews

Works great!

UPDATE: Thanks! The author fixed the bug i was experiencing, works perfectly now! OLD REVIEW: It shows my lights on network and works for them. However, the control panel doesn’t show show my insight switch at all BUT the power on/off all works to toggle that switch. So a small fixable bug, 5 stars since there is no alternative and it is pretty close to working :) I’m guessing it doesn’t show because I have two grouped bulbs which show as two entries on the list (one disabled) resulting in one entry (the switch) not being iterated through in the display code. Basically a UI bug related to groups of bulbs.

TOTALLY AWESOME!

It works and is reliable. Takes some getting used to how it works. Once you know the drill - WEMO is rock solid. I love it. It saves me sooooooo much time. Security in my house is much better now too. We Love you Wemo!!

Simple and It Works!

Neat little program that was needed. Clean design and sits nicely in the Menu Bar.

Excellent menu applet

I just got this and the Hue light control version. ( Both work well.) All five of my switches were instantly recognized and, importantly, their correct state was reported in all cases. The interface is very nice, clean and simple. There are various python-based control scripts for wemo, and I have found them to be hit or miss, not to mention a pain to set up. I also wrote my own shell script based on a hack, and although it always works, it is quite ugly and has a CLI. This is very simple and straightforward and as a simple menu applet, is ideal. I am glad it does not have a dock icon. This is ideal if you like to use your computer, and not just an IOS device, to control your devices.

Works quite well

Kind of think that Belkin should have this for free considering these things are so expensive. But I love the fact I can be on the macbook air and easily from the menu bar turn a light off or on. It is instantly fast. Actually better than the IOS app, which sometimes takes a second or so to load. Really solid job!!

One Angry Bird!

Incomplete instructions. This is software for hardware that doesn’t work. No 3rd party assistance online. Online troubleshooting ignores WiFi connection/passcode and skips to step 2 or 3. This product is not worth 20 hours of homework. If it cannot work straight out of the box in 1/2 hour the average buyer should not be a buyer. While I have had good luck with Belkin before this, my luck seems to be running out. First, why have to buy software to go with a switch? Aren’t they charging enough already? I sure hope the thing works. IT DOESN’T. “Still searching. . . . no devices found” Note to marketing department, we are “Late Adopters” and as such expect to be buying a toaster and not something that disappoints.

Is this compatible with Macbook? Does it run?

I am sorry, but I cannot see this app running on the Macbook. I saw it once, then it disappeared and I have since logged out and rebooted the Macbook and I cannot load this app. It says Update now. I updated so I thought and still nothing. Is there an app or program from Belkin to control Wemo Insight Switch like there is recently for Windows 10? I had requested Belkin to develop or allow programs to control their Home Automated switches for the computer or laptops in addition to those on tablets and smartphones.

Fantasticly Fast, Flawless Design

If you use Quickswitch for iOS to control your Wemo devices, you’ll feel right at home with this app. The only big difference is Wswitch is waaaay faster. My devices respond immediately when I toggle them from this app. Some of the other reviewers have had issues, but I’ve experienced 0 headaches from Wswitch. I’m using it on a a 2012 MBp, if that’s of any consequence.

No problems, works great!

Love it!

Its Good Enough

It works with many of my WeMo Deviuces and does so fast and consistantly but for $5 I expect a little bit more. The UI is at best utilitarian and could use A LOT of refinement. 1. The grey box should only be as big as it needs to be. Right now its HUGE, I have 5 devices and the box takes up way mroe space then that. 2. The sliders and built in UI buttons are really rudimentry and ugly especailly with the dark grey background. 3. The menubar icon is large and pulls focus.

It just works

Have had no problems with WSwitch and that’s at two locations controlling several WEMO switches. Responce is fast and has never failed me. UI design could use some improvement, but doesn’t detract from the usefulness of the app.

wemo switch not for laptop app

In order to use this app with the WeMo switch you have to change your wifi choice from your home to the wemo switch wifi signal effectively cutting off your laptop from the internet when using the switch. cant use both at once. Found this out from chat on Belkin site. Paid $5 for this for nothing

Needs an icon shortcut

I would love if I could just click on the menubar icon and turn on a light. Just like how the “caffeine" or “amphetamine” apps work.

AWESOME!!!

Works perfectly and required absolutely no setup at all. As soon as I downloaded the app, the icon appeared at the top right corner of my screen and I immediately had control of all my devices. I just started using it 2 minutes ago, but excited to setup up some keyboard shortcuts. Well done!

It’s OK

Works as advertised. All that’s missing is a way of typing in percentage numbers for dimmable bulbs or switches in addition to the current sliders. Maybe even preset buttons with predefined dimness levels. It’s also missing a Today Screen plugin with some quick shortcuts to the non-existent percentage of dimmness buttons ;-) Otherwise an OK app, but I don’t use it very often as DO Button, an iOS app that lets your create 3 Today Screen buttons with preset dimming levels.
